Improved Bearing Used In Rear Power Takeoff Groups

Usage:

3406, 3408, 3412 Industrial Engines Equipped With Twin Disc Inc. Model 1BF214, 1BF314 And 1BF318 Clutches

Description of Change: An improved bearing is used on the rear power takeoff groups (Twin Disc Inc. clutches) for 3406, 3408 and 3412 Industrial Engines. The new, ball-type bearing fits on the front end of the clutch shaft in the pilot bore in the flywheel.

Formerly, a roller-type bearing was used, but it did not give acceptable service life. A failure of the former bearing generally caused other component damage.

Adaptable As: The new 5P3499 Bearing is a direct replacement for the former 5P381 Bearing. The former bearing is still available for use in other applications.

The chart which follows gives the part number for the basic clutch group and the rear power takeoff group, the model number for Twin Disc and the engines with which they are used.

To correctly install the 5P3499 Bearing, push the bearing on the shaft so that the inner race is even with the end of the shaft.
