Usage:
D348 And D349 Industrial Engines;
D379, D398, And D399 Generator Set Engines
Several different Woodward UG8 Governor groups are available for use on the above engines. Each of the governor groups has an application where they give the best performance.
Our recommendation is to use the 7N2702 Woodward Governor Group in parallel generator set applications. This governor group gives the best performance in parallel applications because of its slower operation. This slower operation permits more stability in this application.
Some of the other Woodward Governors operate too fast for use in parallel applications. They make corrections too fast for small speed changes caused by mechanical problems (governor drive gears, linkage, fuel rack, etc.) and/or electrical problems (circulating currents, unbalanced voltage regulators, etc.). When two or more of these governors are used in parallel they get into a resonant vibration. This will cause severe load changes from engine to engine.
