New Camshaft Has Improved Profile (Shape) Of Exhaust Cams

Usage:

D379, D398, D399 Industrial, Marine, and Generator Set Engines

Description of Change: A new camshaft is used in the above model engines. The new camshaft has a different profile (shape) of the exhaust cams, which lowers the contact stress on the cams. This will lower the rate of wear and extend the service life of the camshaft. The change in design has no effect on engine performance.

NOTE: This change is similar to the earlier change made to D353 Engines. See the article, "New Camshaft Has Improved Profile (Shape) Of Exhaust Cam To Extend Service Life" on Page 8 of the January 28, 1981 Engine News.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement. The new camshaft can be used in place of the former camshaft in all earlier engines.
