Bent Lever For Fuel Shut-Off Solenoid Can Cause Low Engine Performance

Usage:

All 3208 Engines Equipped With Fuel Shut-Off Solenoids

One possible cause of low performance from a 3208 Engine equipped with a fuel shut-off solenoid is a bent 4N941 Lever. This lever is part of the governor and fuel injection pump group. See Illustration 1.

When the lever is bent, it will not permit the rack to move to the full fuel position. This is because the fuel shut-off solenoid limits the movement of the bent 4N941 Lever.

To check the lever, put it - part number down - on a flat surface. If the lever is bent, the flat section that has two holes will be off the surface. See Illustration 2. The flat part will almost make contact [within 0.51 mm (.020")] with the surface if the lever is not bent.
