Usage:
7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions
Description of Change: New retainers of a different design are used to hold the output tube of the oil pump group in the manifold on 7251 and 7261 Marine Transmissions. The new design uses flange-type retainers, which are held to the manifold with two bolts. One end of each flange is fastened to the manifold, and a bar is fastened across the other two ends to keep them in position. Shims are installed between the retainers and the collar on the tube assembly to hold the tube tightly in the manifold. Formerly, a plate was used to fasten the tube assembly to the manifold, and it was possible for the plate or the boss on the tube to break in some conditions.
Adaptable To: The new parts, used together, are adaptable to 7251 Marine Transmissions 74E1461-Up, and 7261 Marine Transmissions 89B1-Up. To install the new parts, two holes must be added to the 1N8587 Manifold as shown. If desired, a conversion of the former 2N6035 Tube Assembly to the new 3T4294 Tube Assembly can be made by removal of the welded boss from the side of the tube.
