Stronger Fitting Used With Sending Unit For Oil Pressure Gauge

Usage:

All 3208 Marine Engines Equipped With 3N7801 And 3N7802 Instrument Panel Groups

Description of Change: A steel fitting is now used in the above instrument panel groups for Caterpillar 3208 Marine Engines. The steel fitting is used as an adapter for the marine transmission oil pressure sending unit. The steel fitting is stronger than the former fitting.

Formerly, an iron fitting was used. It was possible for vibration to cause failure of the fitting.

Adaptable As: The new 8L6005 Fitting is a direct replacement for the former 6B7639 Tee in these applications. The 6B7639 Tee is still available for use in other applications.

If desired, the 8L6005 Fitting and the transmission oil pressure sending unit can be installed on the oil cooler inlet.

When more than one fitting and sending unit are to be installed, it is Caterpillar's recommendation that the units be installed vertically instead of horizontally. One of the fittings and one of the sending units must be installed at the oil pump outlet for the marine gear. The other fitting and the other sending unit must be installed at the oil cooler inlet for the marine gear. See the illustrations.
