Usage:
7211 And 7221 Marine Transmissions
Description of Change: New seals and clutch discs are used in 7211 and 7221 Marine Transmissions. The new seals are used in the main shaft group and housing groups. The new seals will give acceptable performance at a higher temperature. Reports have shown that some of the former seals have become brittle (hard) and have cracks.
The new clutch discs used in the ahead and astern clutch groups have a different design of the lubrication grooves. This different design cools and lubricates the clutch discs better.
Adaptable As: The new seals are direct replacements for the former seals as shown in the chart. The new 5N4756 Clutch Disc Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 3N9170 Clutch Disc Assembly, which has been canceled.
The new discs are in effect on the 7211 Marine Transmission with Serial Number 66X744 and on the 7221 Marine Transmission with Serial Number 98X487.
