6V3197 Spacer, 6V3041 Tool Group Available For Use During Removal And Installation Of Piston Pin Bearings

Usage:


All 3406, 3408, 3412, 3512 Engines

The angle of the taper on connecting rods for 3406, 3408 and 3412 Engines has been changed. The angle is now 9° instead of 6°. The 6V3197 Spacer has been released for removal and installation of the piston pin bearings on these connecting rods. The spacer is used with the 5P8650 and 5P8649 Adapters in the 5P8648 Tool Group.

The 6V3041 Tool Group is made up of a 5P8649 Adapter, a 6V3042 Adapter and a 6V3043 Spacer. This tool group is used to remove and install the tapered piston pin bearings from the connecting rods in 3512 Engines. Shops which have the 6V100 Tool Arrangement need only order the 6V3042 Adapter and the 6V3043 Spacer.

Add the information which follows to Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7295-02.

On Page 3 in the tool chart in the center of the page:

... add "3512" under "Engine Model,"
... add "6V3041" under "Tool Group,"
... add "6V3042" under "Adapter R & I*,"
... add "6V3043" under "Spacer,"
... add "5P8649" under "Push Adapter".

In the same chart, for 3400 Engines:

... change "5P8650" to "5P8646-9°, 5P8650-6°",
... change "5P8651" to "6V3197-9°, 5P8651-6°,"
... change "5P8649" to "5P8645-9°, 5P8649-6°".

On page 4, add the information that follows to the chart, "Tapered Connecting Rods:"

The procedures given in Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7295-02 are correct for use of the 6V3197 Spacer and the 6V3041 Tool Group.
