Usage:
3208 Engines
Too much oil has been found in a number of 3208 Engines in the field. In some conditions, operation with the oil level too high can cause foam (air bubbles) in the oil, and possible damage to the engine. A high oil level can also increase the rate of oil consumption.
A possible cause of high oil level is the use of the words "FULL" and "ADD" instead of the marks (either dots or lines) next to the words on the gauge when the oil level is checked. The illustration shows the marks on the oil level gauge, which are the correct indication of the crankcase oil level. The marks currently used are two dots, as shown. Some earlier oil level gauges have lines across the gauge in the same locations. Be sure to use the marks when the oil level is checked, and keep the oil level between the marks.
