FT1576 Puller Plate Used For Removal Of Crankshaft Gear; Drawings For FT1576 Puller Plate Can Be Used For Modification Of Existing Puller Plate

Usage:

All D346, D348 And D349 Engines

Drawings are available to fabricate the FT1576 Puller Plate needed for removal of the crankshaft gear on the above engines. If desired, the drawing can be used as a guide to make modifications to the already existing 5P3546 Puller Plate.

The FT1576 Puller Plate (5P3546 Puller Plate), used with the tools shown in Illustration 1, makes removal of the crankshaft gear easier.

Removal of Gear:

1. Turn the crankshaft until the dowel hole in the gear is at the top. The dowel will be used as a support for the gear and tooling after removal of the gear from the crankshaft.

2. Install the 9M6592 Guide in the hole in the 7F9540 Hydraulic Ram; then install the ram and puller plate with three 1K9418 Bolts as shown in Illustration 2.

3. Connect the hydraulic pump to the ram and carefully remove the gear. Approximately 6900 kPa (1000 psi) of hydraulic pressure is needed to remove the gear.

Drawings for the FT1576 Puller Plate are available from your Division Service Manager.
