New Oil Filter Base Has Larger Oil Passages; Some Bases Need Modification

Usage:

3304, 3306 Engines With Spacer Plate Cylinder Blocks In All Applications

Description of Change: A new oil filter base is used on 3304 and 3306 Engines in all applications. The new base assembly has larger oil passages, so there is less resistance to the flow of oil. This improves the oil pressure in the engine oil system for better lubrication.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement when the new parts are used together.

NOTE: Because of the changes made to the shape of the base, some of the first new bases have been found to need a small modification if they are to be installed on a 3304 Engine that has a spacer plate cylinder block. One side of the base makes contact with a boss on the cylinder block, and approximately 2.03 mm (.080") must be ground off either the filter base or the boss on the cylinder block for clearance. The illustration shows the location on the filter base where clearance is needed. If any of these bases are in your parts stock, either: 1) Use the bases on 3306 Engines, 2) Grind the necessary clearance, or 3) Return the bases and order new 8N6212 Base Assemblies.
