New Plug With Straight-Threads Used In Engine Variable Timing Drive

D348 (36J, 38J);
D349 (62P, 57K, 32R) Industrial, Marine, and Truck Engines

Description of Change: The plug in the end of the 4N6680 and 4S9498 Variable Timing Drive Assemblies in the above models has been changed from a pipe-thread plug to a straight-thread plug. With the former pipe-thread plug it was possible for the plug to come loose and cause a loss of oil pressure. The new straight-thread plug and seal, when used with a new retainer assembly, will prevent the loss of oil pressure.

Adaptable As: A direct replacement for the former parts if all the parts in the chart are used together.
