Usage:
3406 (92U) Truck Engines Equipped With A BrakeSaver
Description of Change: Improvements to the engine oil lines group makes installation easier on 3406 Truck Engines which are equipped with a BrakeSaver. Also, the use of the new parts prevent possible reverse hose connections at the oil filter.
A new hose assembly, elbow and connector are used, and the lines are installed differently around the truck frame. The new hose assembly, through which oil flows to the filter, has a 45 degree elbow on each end. The elbows are fastened to straight connectors at the oil filter inlet and the cylinder block.
The hose assembly, through which oil flows from the oil filter to the oil cooler, has a straight connector on each end. This hose assembly is fastened to 45 degree elbows at the oil filter outlet and the oil cooler inlet.
Location of parts.
The elbow-to-connector design permits easier installation of the lines in the new location, and makes it more difficult to install the lines in reverse at the oil filter.
Formerly, installation of the engine oil lines group was difficult. There are words on the oil filter base to tell which port is the inlet and which port is the outlet, but it is still possible to wrongly install the lines to the filter.
Adaptable As: The new parts, used together, are direct replacements for the former parts as shown in the chart.
