Different Water Temperature Regulators Now Used To Prevent Overheating

Usage:

3406, 3408 and 3412 Industrial and Marine Engines Equipped With Raw Water Heat Exchangers

Description of Change: A different water temperature regulator is now used in 3406, 3408 and 3412 Industrial and Marine Engines equipped with raw water heat exchangers. The water temperature regulator has a rating of 74°C (165°F).

Formerly, a water temperature regulator which had an 82°C (180°F) rating was used. Because of the higher operating range of the former regulator, in warmer waters it was some times possible for the coolant to get hot enough to cause the overheating alarm to be activated.

Adaptable As: The new water temperature regulator is a direct replacement for the former water temperature regulator as shown in the chart which follows.
