Crankshaft Rear Seal And Wear Sleeve Are Now Serviced As A Group Instead Of Separate Parts

Usage:

3304, 3306, D330C, And D333C Industrial And Marine Engines;
1673C And 3306 Truck Engines

Description of Change: The crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve, used in the above engines, are now serviced as a group.

As a group, the 9S3111 Seal comes installed on the 2P3858 Sleeve from the factory. Lubricant is put on the seal during assembly. Also, the group is sealed in plastic for shipment. This will keep the contact surfaces clean and prevent damage to the seal during shipment.

Formerly, the crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve were serviced as separate parts and had to be assembled at the time of installation. It was some times possible to damage the seal when it was installed on the wear sleeve. Also, it was possible for the separate parts to be damaged during shipment.

Adaptable As: The new 1N3216 Crankshaft Rear Seal Group is a direct replacement for the 9S3111 Seal and 2P3858 Sleeve.

See Special Instruction Form No. SMHS7100 for installation procedures. DO NOT disassemble the group before installation. This will prevent possible damage to the seal.
