Timing Advance Mechanism Used In Certain 3208 Truck Engines In Ford Trucks
Usage:
For a short period of time, the incorrect timing advance mechanism was inadvertantly installed in some 3208 Engines for Ford Trucks. These engines have a 5° advance 9N430 Gear and Weight Assembly instead of the correct 3° advance 9N2422 Gear and Weight Assembly.
All the affected engines are 9N5166 Engine Arrangements with the serial number prefix "32Y". Your Caterpillar dealer has a list of Ford Truck serial numbers and Cat engine serial numbers that need to be inspected and he has been requested to inspect all of these truck engines. If you have an engine with a "32Y" Serial Number prefix and it is the 9N5166 Engine Arrangement, contact your Caterpillar dealer.
