A New 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool Is Used To Adjust And Make A Replacement Of Roll Pins In The Fuel Injection Pump Housing

Usage:

All Engines With Sleeve Metering Fuel Systems

A 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool is available for service of all sleeve metering fuel systems.

Sleeve metering fuel systems use small roll pins to keep the lifters in correct alignment in their respective bores. The depth that the roll pins are installed to is very important. Only the outer edges of the roll pin can come in contact with the lifter as shown in Illustration 2.

Because of the size of the roll pin and the clearance that is available inside the fuel injection pump housing, the roll pin is difficult to install. The new 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool makes adjustment and replacement of these roll pins faster and easier.

Procedure to Install Roll Pins

The 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool has a drilled hole in one end. Install the roll pin in the tool as shown in Illustration 3.

NOTE: To give maximum service life to the roll pins, hold the tool so the slots (open side) in the pins will be toward either the top or bottom of the housing when pins are installed.

Install the roll pin in the fuel injection pump housing as shown until the tool makes contact with the housing as shown in Illustration 4.

The diameter of the drilled hole in the end of the tool is larger than the diameter of the hole in the fuel injection pump housing. The tool will release the roll pin as the tool is removed from the fuel injection pump housing.

After the roll pin is installed in the fuel injection pump housing, it must be installed to the correct depth. Install the 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool into the correct pump assembly bore as shown in Illustration 5.

Use a small hammer and punch to install the roll pin until it makes contact with the tool as shown in Illustration 6. The roll pin will be at the correct depth. The tool is heat treated and the roll pin will not damage the tool when it makes contact with it.

The 6V29 Sleeve Metering Fuel System Pump Roll Pin Tool is available for parts service as part of the 5P4203 Sleeve Metering Field Service Tool Group.
