Cleaning Procedure For Air-To-Air Aftercooler On ATAAC Engines

Usage:

3406B (7FB),
3306B (63Z) Truck Engines

This procedure is the basic information for analysis and maintenance of air-to-air aftercooling on 3306B and 3406B Truck Engines. It should also be used if a turbocharger failure occurs.

1. Remove air-to-air aftercooler core.

2. Flush core internally with a solvent to loosen foreign substances and to remove oil.

3. Shake core vigorously to eliminate any trapped debris.

4. Wash core with hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

5. Dry the core with compressed air. Blow air in reverse direction of normal flow.

6. Inspect the system to ensure cleanliness.

------ WARNING! ------

Do not use caustic cleaners. During retest, splashing of the cleaner may occur, contact the operator, and cause personal injury. Caustic cleaners will attack the internal metals of the core and cause leakage.
