3406B Truck Engines
The 3406B Truck Engines with air-to-air aftercooling (ATAAC) have a 9N3167 Plate between the oil pan and the bottom of the cylinder block. The 9N3167 Plate is also used on some OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) truck models that have a setback front axle. This plate is fastened to the bottom of the cylinder block with three S1588 Bolts (3/8"-16 course thread, 11/4" long). The oil pan can be removed without removing the plate. The illustration shows the location of the oil pan and the 9N3167 Plate.

Use care and a suitable support when removing the 9N3167 Plate from the bottom of the cylinder block. The 9N3167 Plate weighs approximately 31 kg (68 lb). The plate could cause personal injury if it falls.
