New Rust Preventive Used In Part Distribution System

Usage:

All Caterpillar Products

Improved quality rust preventives are being introduced in the Parts Distribution System for certain applications. As part of this introductory process, different colors are being evaluated in order to determine which color assures the best coverage and thus the best protection. Rust preventive quality will not be affected by the color.

These new rust preventives belong to a family of thixotropic, or gel-like oils. Removal of the products may be accomplished with solvents (such as kerosene), degreasers, or high pressure hot water containing an alkaline cleaner. Steam containing 1.5% trisodium phosphate (TSP) will remove most of the rust preventive. Steam alone is not recommended.
