New Oil Filter Base Assembly Used In Filter Base Group

Usage:

All 3306 Truck Engines

Description of Change: A new oil filter base assembly is used on all 3306 Truck Engines. The new base assembly has aluminum core plugs that are pressed into position. Formerly, the core plugs were made from steel and had threads. Because the base assembly is made from aluminum, the heat from the oil could cause the base assembly to expand sooner than the steel plug. This would let oil leak past the steel plug. To stop this leakage, the plug was tightened to a torque that was too high. This additional torque would cause the base assembly to crack when it became cool. Because the new base assembly has aluminum plugs, the plugs and the base assembly will expand at the same rate. This will prevent oil leakage.

Adaptable As: The new 2W6681 Base Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 8N6212 Base Assembly.
