SUPPLEMENT: 02/15/84

TRUCK ENGINE NEWS, FEBRUARY 15, 1984, PAGE 4. Put a mark through the article "New Cylinder Head Assembly Made With A Different Material" . The article made reference to a new material (compacted graphite iron) used in 3406 Direct Injection Truck Engines. The compacted graphite iron cylinder heads should not be used in precombustion chamber truck engines. A new high alloy material is used in all cylinder heads (direct injection and precombustion) used in 3400 Series Truck Engines.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new head assembly is now used in the cylinder head groups on 3406 Engines. The new head assembly is made from a different material. The new material makes a stronger casting that has more resistance to cracks.

Adaptable As: The new 1W1509 Cylinder Head Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 7N1303 Cylinder Head Assembly. The former 7N1303 Head Assembly is canceled. The new cylinder head is in effect on 3406 Truck Engines with 92U63883 (400 hp or more), 92U64588 (less than 400 hp) and 7FB1.
