Fuel Line Hoses Can Be Damaged In Locations Between Engine And Vehicle Components

Usage:

3208 Truck Engines (32Y)

According to field reports, some 3208 Truck Engines (32Y) have been found with the fuel line hoses installed in positions or locations where the hoses were damaged by rubbing (friction) between the body of the hose and components of the engine or vehicle. One of these locations is between the engine valve cover and the vehicle firewall. A second location is between an engine valve cover bolt and the air compressor.

To prevent this damage, and possible hose failure, use hose clips and/or tie straps as necessary to fasten the hose in a position where it will be free from friction damage.

For any hose found rubbing between the valve cover and the firewall, use a tie strap fastened to the fuel nozzle adapter lock to hold the hose off the valve cover. Make sure the hose is not in contact with the fuel injection lines.

For any hose found rubbing between the valve cover bolt and the air compressor, remove the hose clip nearest the fuel filter. This will loosen the hose enough so it can be moved to an acceptable location.
