Spring Pins No Longer Used In Water Pump Drive Gear

Usage:

3306 Truck Engines

Description of Change: A change has been made to the basic water pump group for 3306 Truck Engines. The two spring pins in the drive gear assembly, which fit into two holes in the end of the water pump shaft, are no longer used. Tests have shown that these pins are not necessary, either to make assembly easier, or during operation of the pump. Since the two pins are not to be installed, the two holes for the pins have been removed from both the drive gear and the water pump shaft.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement. The new 7N5186 Gear Assembly is the same as the former 7N5189 Gear Assembly (canceled), except for the two 2L5893 Spring Pins which were part of the former assembly. The part number of the 7N5899 Water Pump Shaft did not change, but later shafts have no holes for the pins. If a later shaft is to be installed with a former gear assembly, it will be necessary to remove the two 2L5893 Spring Pins from the gear assembly. The new drive gear can be installed with either an earlier or later shaft.
