Thrust Washer Used In Pump Housing For Sleeve Metering Fuel System

Usage:

All 3208 Truck Engines

Description of Change: A thrust washer has been added to the fuel pump housing for sleeve metering fuel systems on all 3208 Truck Engines. The steel-backed, bronze thrust washer gives a new thrust face for the fuel pump camshaft to prevent housing wear. It also permits easier reconditioning of the fuel system.

Formerly, the fuel pump housing had no thrust washer, and it was possible for the camshaft to wear into the housing.

Adaptable To: The 9N5822 Thrust Washer is in effect with engine Serial Numbers 32Y76804. The 9N5822 Thrust Washer is adaptable to all earlier engine serial numbers and 40S1-Up if a counterbore and clearance face are machined into the pump housing. Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7897 has instructions for use of the 6V4068 Tool Group to machine the pump housing and for installation of the washer.
