Usage:
Naturally-Aspirated 3208 Truck Engines
Caterpillar's naturally-aspirated 3208 Truck Engines are adjusted at the factory for operation at 762.5 m (2500 ft) above sea level or less. The fuel setting ajustments are made according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) specifications. Caterpillar has two other EPA-approved fuel settings: one is for operation at 1220 m (4000 ft) above sea level and the other is for operation at 1525 m (5000 ft) above sea level. These settings are given in the rack charts. EPA-approved fuel settings for higher altitude (height above sea level) applications are available from Caterpillar.
If an engine is adjusted for high altitude operation, a 1W7766 Certification Film must be installed next to the emission film for the engine. Also, the new fuel settings must be put on the engine data plate, and the Caterpillar seal must be removed from the governor and fuel injection pump and a dealer seal installed. These steps must be taken to comply with EPA regulations.
