All 3406, 3408 Truck Engines

The angle of the taper on connecting rods for 3406 and 3408 Truck Engines has been changed. The angle is now 9 ° instead of 6°. The 6V3197 Spacer has been released for removal and installation of the piston pin bearings on these connecting rods. The spacer is used with the 5P8650 and 5P8649 Adapters in the 5P8648 Tool Group.

Add the information which follows to Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7295-02.

On Page 3 in the tool chart in the center of the page:

... change "5P8650" to "5P8646-9°, 5P8650-6°",

... change "5P8651" to "6V3197-9 °, 5P8651-6°,"

... change "5P8649" to "5P8645-9 °, 5P8649-6°".

On page 4, add the information that follows to the chart, " Tapered Connecting Rods:"

The procedures given in Special Instruction, Form No. SMHS7295-02 are correct for use of the 6V3197 Spacer and the 6V3041 Tool Group.
