Correct Refill Capacity For Engine Oil

Usage:

3408 Truck Engines (28V)

There is some problem in the field as to the correct refill capacity for 3408 Truck Engines. The article "Smaller Quantity Of Oil Now Used In Engine Oil Pan; Prevents Contact Between Crankshaft And Oil " in February 8, 1978 Engine News told about a new oil level and new gauge assemblies. Some, but not all of the Operation and Maintenance (Lubrication and Maintenance) Guides and Operation (Operator's) Guides have been changed to show this new oil level. If you use an earlier guide for refill capacities put a mark through the earlier engine crankcase capacities and write in the new capacities.

The new crankcase capacity is 42 liters (9 Imp gal or 11 U.S. gal). This capacity is the same for engines with or without BrakeSavers.
