Cooling System Improvements Prevent Expansion Tank Leakage{1354,1380,1153}

Usage:

3408 Marine Engines Equipped With 4N1698 Expansion Tank Group

Description of Change: Several changes have been made to the cooling system on 3408 Marine Engines which are equipped with a 4N1698 Expansion Tank Group. The part number of the 4N1698 Expansion Tank Group is not changed.

... A new expansion tank has a thicker rear wall for increased strength.

... A new engine front support is more rigid so tank movement will be less during operation.

... New cylinder head outlet elbows have machined surfaces around the bolt holes to prevent stresses which can break the bolts.

... New heavy-duty clamps are used for the balance tube. These improvements will extend the service life of the expansion tank, and prevent possible leakage in some conditions.

Adaptable To: All earlier engines when the necessary parts are used together. Extra parts have been made available where needed to permit conversion of some earlier engines. See the parts chart.
