Flywheel Housing

Usage:

Remove Flywheel Housing

start by:

a) remove flywheel

1. Remove bolts that fasten the oil pan plate to flywheel housing.

2. Loosen all of the fastening bolts for the oil pan plate and the cylinder block.

3. Lift the flywheel end of the engine and install acceptable spacers (3) between the oil pan plate and the cylinder block.

4. Remove the oil return line (2) for the turbocharger.

5. Remove the oil bypass line (1) for the turbocharger.

6. Remove the fastening bolts for the flywheel housing. Install two 1/2"-13NC guide pins (4) in the cylinder block.

7. Fasten a short section of chain (5) to the flywheel housing as shown. Remove the flywheel housing, using lifting bracket (A). Weight of flywheel housing is 150 lbs. (68 kg).

8. Remove the crankshaft rear seal from the flywheel housing.

Install Flywheel Housing

1. Install two 1/2"-13NC guide pins in the cylinder block.

2. Install a new flywheel housing gasket.

3. Put flywheel housing into position on the engine, using lifting bracket (A) and a short section of chain.

4. Install the fastening bolts (3) for the flywheel housing.

5. Cut the gasket even with the surface of the cylinder block.

NOTE: If the gasket between the oil pan plate and cylinder block was destroyed during disassembly it will be necessary to install a new gasket.

6. Install the oil return line (2) and oil bypass line (1) for the turbocharger.

7. Install the bolts that fasten the oil pan plate to flywheel housing. Tighten the remaining oil pan plate and oil pan fastening bolts.

a) install crankshaft rear seal
