This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI31134" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31134" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

|The ECM must be reflashed with the correct software to resolve this issue. The software needed varies by general arrangement. Following are the new software part numbers: 291-8571, 287-8177, 291-8572, 291-8573. Download the appropriate software from the Caterpillar SISWeb site. See the attached Rework Procedure for the correct software for each general arrangement.|

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
New ECM software needs to be installed on the products listed below. The existing ECM can store engine hours improperly. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 16Aug2006 when scheduling this service.

|Step 1: Download appropriate flash file from SISWeb. Go to SISWeb site and select "Service Software Files".
Step 2: Select "Flash Files".
Step 3: Enter the "Flash Filename" in the search box and select "Search". The "Flash Filename" needed depends on the general arrangement part number of the engine. The "Flash Filenames" available are listed below:
