| Certain C12 marine engines installed in some sport fishing vessels with a 1.5 to 1 transmission gear ratio may experience a lag in acceleration at 1200 to 1300 rpm range. This lag is accompanied with excessive black smoke. |

| Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. |

| 1. Verify the engines are properly loaded, and will achieve an engine speed above 2300 rpm at full throttle in forward gear. |
| 2. Remove the turbocharger from the engine. |
| 3. Replace the turbine housing with 246-2105 turbine housing. |
| 4. Stamp new part number of the turbocharger (282-9638) on a new identification tag (1W4795) |
| 5. Replace existing turbocharger identification tag with new stamped tag, and install with pop rivet (6C-3677) |
| 6. Install the turbocharger on the engine with the new turbine housing. Note: Refer to the service manual for the correct procedure. |
| 7. Order a new engine label to reflect the turbocharger. Please complete the form for a new label at: https://largepower.cat.com/cda/components/fullArticle?m=103845&x=7&id=331814 Please enter the new turbo part number (282-9738) in the flashfile field of the request form, and enter this service letter number in the comment field. |
