Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

176-9668 Instrument Console Gp is part of SB-24 Volt operating system.

SB-24 Volt operating system for hydraulic (CW) dedicated wedge lock quick couplers on certain excavator machines.

SB-24 Volt operating system for hydraulic vertical wedge lock and Horizontal pin lock quick couplers on certain wheel loaders.

Problem

176-9668 Instrument Console Gp BCU V5.00 may have ex-factory installed the wrong resistor, 22 Ohm instead of 0,22 Ohm. As result, no output signal will be sent to the solenoid to unlock the SB-24 Volt operating system.

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, and recommends the following below interim repair action.

  1. Remove the four locking bolts to remove the cover of the Instrument Console Gp.

  2. Visually inspect if the correct resistor is installed.

  3. Replace 176-9668 Instrument Console Gp when the wrong resistor is installed.

  4. Check if the correct resistor is installed into the new 176-9668 Instrument Console Gp before installation into the cab of the host machine.
