Introduction

There are three different designs for the drive end for the 75 Amp, and some 50 Amp, brushless alternators. Refer to Illustrations 1, 2, and 3 to identify the differences in the designs.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Installation Procedure

Use the below procedures that follow for 8C-6163, 4N-3986, 4N-3987, 8N-0999, 5S-6698, and 3T-1888( 5S-9088) Alternator Groups.

Table 1 and Illustrations 1, 2, and 3 to identify the components used in the different designs.

Drive End Bearing

When servicing the drive end bearing, remove and discard the components listed in Table 2. Install the components listed in Table 3.

Servicing Fan, Slinger, or Outside Collar

When servicing the fan, slinger, or outside collar, remove and discard the components listed in Table 4. Install the components listed in Table 5.
