Introduction
An Improved 107-3946 Retainer is now used on the machines listed above. The bolt holes now have a smaller radius and required machining in the bottom of the bolt hole counterbores.
The previous design allowed as-cast surfaces in the bottom of the bolt hole counterbores. Wear on the casting tooling could result in uneven surfaces, loose retainer bolts, leaking oil and idler failures.
Problem
The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

The following information should be used to determine if a part is acceptable for use:
- (EC06) with casting code containing “K” (indicates bad casting mold) - Not acceptable for use.
- EC06 & all other casting codes (indicates good casting mold) - all acceptable to use; can have bottom of counterbores either as-forged or machined flat.
- EC07 - all parts have bottom of counterbore machined flat and are acceptable to use.
Solution
Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility. |
