Recommended Inspection, Maintenance and Operation to Achieve Longer Service Life for Certain Quick Couplers {6129}

Usage:

PIN GRAB CL2
Work Tool
QUICK COUPLER (S/N: CL21-UP; CP21-UP; HB21-UP; PG21-UP; CL31-UP; HB31-UP; NC31-UP; PG31-UP; CL41-UP; NC41-UP; PG41-UP; HB51-UP; PG51-UP; PW51-UP; CL61-UP; HB71-UP; PG71-UP; CL81-UP; NC81-UP; CL91-UP; PGM1-UP; PGS1-UP; PGX1-UP)

Follow the below recommendations for inspection, maintenance and operation to achieve longer service life of the quick couplers listed above.

  1. The Quick Coupler Group must be greased and cycled every shift, even if there is no plan to remove the tool that day. Lack of grease may result in the coupler wedge becoming immovable without an external force. An external force to the wedge, in an effort to free it, may result in reduced service life of the wedge and coupler cylinder.

  2. Follow the quick coupler Lubricate and Cycle instructions outlined in the Operation and Maintenance Manual , SEBU9161 , "Pin Grabber Quick Coupler" for a longer service life of the quick coupler groups.

  3. Do not strike the work tool on the ground. Avoid heavy tamping and other high impact operations. This type of operation drives forces directly into the coupler wedge and cylinder, reducing the service life of these components.

  4. Follow the quick coupler operation instructions outlined in the Operation and Maintenance Manual , SEBU9161 , "Pin Grabber Quick Coupler" for a longer service life of the quick coupler groups.

  5. Avoid using damaged or deformed pins in the work tool. Damaged or deformed pins may result in the wedge traveling beyond its intended range and becoming immovable, reducing the service life of the wedge and coupler cylinder.

  6. It is recommended to use chrome plated Cat pins in the work tools to improve proper wedge engagement and increase service life of the pins.

  7. If internal leakage to the coupler cylinder is suspected, inspection of the cylinder barrel for a bulge is recommended. If the cylinder has a bulge, replace with same part to insure proper seal to cylinder barrel fit.
