Problem
Field reports for the engine enclosure or insulation on the right-hand side being damaged.
Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem, In the event of a damaged hood or right-hand insulation, follow the procedure below.

Check for air leak at the joints:
(1) Between the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger.
(2) Between the exhaust manifold and head cylinder group.
(3) Between the turbocharger and the muffler.

Replace hood or insulation right-hand side:
Replace the deformed 357-4273 Hood or 377-3803 Insulation with the same part number.
Add (A) 8T-2821 Temperature Indicator on the new hood / insulation at exactly damaged area (B). The temperature indicator will allow recording of the temperature if there is a repeated failure.

Check if 357-4273 Hood (right-hand) is fitted correctly on the Frame tower.

Revisit the machine within a month after replacing the damaged parts. Check for any damage and record the temperature. Submit findings to the CPI team through the CPI feedback function within SIMSi referencing the CPI number 427550.
