Start By:

  1. Remove the fan.

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

  1. Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) to remove bolt (1). Remove retainer (2) and shims (3).

  2. Use Tooling (C) to separate fan hub (4) from the piston motor.

  3. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to remove fan hub (4). The weight of fan hub (4) is approximately 50 kg (110 lb).

  4. Use a suitable lifting device to turn over piston motor (5) and support assembly (6). The weight of piston motor (5) and support assembly (6) is approximately 336 kg (740 lb).

  5. Remove hose assemblies (7). Remove bolts (8). Use a suitable lifting device to remove piston motor (5). The weight of piston motor (5) is approximately 163 kg (360 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install piston motor (5) in the reverse order.

    1. Apply Tooling (E) to the taper of the shaft on piston motor (5).

    2. Assemble the fan adapter without shims. Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 100 ± 20 N·m (74 ± 15 lb ft). Measure the gap between the plate and end of the shaft. Record this measurement as Dimension (X). Subtract 0.40 ± 0.05 mm (0.016 ± 0.002 inch) from Dimension (X), this is the amount of required shims.

    3. Tighten bolt (1) to a final torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1328 ± 148 lb ft).
