New VIMS 3G software for standalone A4:N4 module is now available for certain machines that are listed above. Refer to Table 1 to identify which Electronic Control Module (ECM) is installed on the machine.

Table 1
VIMS ECM Identification Chart
ECM Name  Part Number
A4:N4 (S/N Ending in HD)  285-1142 Electronic Control Module

Note: Enter the part number of the files, when searching for the software and configuration files in SIS web. Entering the machines serial number will not always give the compatible configuration file for the flash file used on the VIMS platform.

Note: When searching for the latest production software in SIS web, in the flash software download page, click the "VIMS software & Current Releases" Link. This will bring up the "DEALER.CAT.COM" web page. Under related links, click "VIMS 3G production software compatibility matrix". The VIMS3G production flash file and production configuration compatibility matrix will pop up. Search for the correct software files for a specific machine type.

Note: Before using communications adapter 3 (CA3), make sure that the PC drivers and CA3 firmware have been updated.

Note: Use the latest version of Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) for the optimal machine software support. Use "WinFlash" to flash the new software onto the Module.

Note: The configuration files are flashed onto the VIMS module using the latest version of VIMSpc (2015A or later). Get the latest version of VIMSpc at the below address:

https://dealer.cat.com/en/products/technology/mining-technology-autonomy/health/vims-product-support-information.html

Note: Prior to flashing new software, download VIMS settings/information to help you reconfigure VIMS. Connect to VIMS main when prompted.

Flash File Improvements and Enhancements

Improvements of VIMS (Standalone Main Module A4N4)

  • Enhanced VIMS main Security feature implementation for HTTP messages.

  • Enhanced VIMS main module webpage access control for communicator settings.

- Webserver admin password is mandatory for communicator page access for better security. Itis recommended to change this password from defaults through Cat ET. For more information refer to Special Instruction , M0096401 , "Procedure for Web Server Administrator Password on Certain Releases of VIMS 3G Software".

  • Enhanced NMEA Global Positioning System (GPS) to support RMC message format.
