Hydraulic cylinder (1) is a double acting cylinder that is equipped with a speed control valve. The valve is mounted directly to cylinder (1). Speed control valve group (2) serves the following two functions:
- Increases the speed of the jaws when the jaws are closing.
- Increases the oil pressure during crushing.
Refer to System Operations, "Speed Control Valve" for further information.
When oil is supplied to head end (3) of cylinder (1), the rod is forced out of the cylinder housing. This action closes the jaws of the work tool. When oil is supplied to rod end (4) of cylinder (1), the rod retracts into the cylinder housing. This action causes the jaws of the work tool to open.
Note: The return oil flow is greater than the oil flow to the work tool cylinder. The return oil flow is greater due to the difference in volume on both sides of the cylinder. The host machine must be able to accommodate this return flow without exceeding the maximum recommended back pressure.
The maximum working pressure of the cylinder is
