Certain Cat® Product Link Device Back-Office May Not Allow to Set Hours Locally {7606}

- PL5
Machine Control and Guidance Products
PRODUCT LINK (S/N: PL51-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

A back-office process in the gateway confirms the changes made and compares the new hours value to a previously set remembered value. When the technician sets a different local value, gateway rejects the change since the new value does not match the known value. The issue will occur when previous hours changes have been made first in the back office through VisionLink or Cat Activate. This sets the auto-sync process, which then monitors and will prevent further changes to the hours of a device if not done through back office again.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem and the issue will be addressed in the upcoming back-office update 2018A expected to release in May 2018. As an interim action, users can make the changes through VisionLink. Which goes through the gateway, thus sidestepping the auto sync process which is causing the current issue.
