CAN Wires Are Incorrectly Connected On Control Harness For Certain Cat® Products {1408, 7606}

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Certain circuits are located in the incorrect location on 479-1866 Control Harness As for certain Cat® products.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but a permanent repair has not been defined. As an interim action, perform the following rework procedure:

    (A) "TC-C1" 70-pin connector
    (1) 479-1866 Control Harness As

  1. Locate the 70-pin connector (A) labeled "TC-C1" on 479-1866 Control Harness As (1). Remove the 70-pin connector (A) from the bulkhead.

  2. Remove the following circuits from the following pins:

    1. E710-BU(Blue)from pin 57

    2. F712-GN(Green)from pin 50

    3. F711-YL(Yellow)from pin 34

  3. Insert the pins that were removed into the following contacts on the 70-pin connector "TC-C1".

    1. E710-BU(Blue)into pin 58

    2. F712-GN(Green)into pin 34

    3. F711-YL(Yellow)into pin 50

  4. Re-connect the 70-pin connector (A) to the bulkhead.
