Introduction

This special instruction contains the procedure for reworking 239-8243 Recoil Spring Gp to improve the sealing of the track adjustment system.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the track adjuster. Refer to the proper Disassembly and Assembly manual for your machine.

  2. Remove bracket (A), relief valve (B), and fill valve (C).

  3. Remove and retain plate (D). Remove and discard O-ring (E).

  4. Remove any grease accessible from the four holes shown in Illustration .

  5. Tap hole (F) using a M10 x 1.5 tap.

  6. Thoroughly clean and remove all burrs that could result from the tapped hole. Make sure that there are no remaining burrs in the holes from Illustration .

  7. Install setscrew (1) and O-ring (2).

    Note: Pay special attention to the installation of fill valve (C) because of being sensitive to contamination. Torque fill valve (C) to 35 ± 7 N·m (26 ± 5 lb ft).

  8. Reinstall plate (D), bracket (A), relief valve (B), and fill valve (C). Then reinstall the track adjuster.
