Removal Procedure

Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

1. Open the hood. Engage the hood support.

2. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

3. Loosen clamp (2) that secures the exhaust tube to muffler (1).

4. Loosen clamp (4) that secures the exhaust tube to muffler (1).

5. Loosen two clamps (3) and remove muffler (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Install muffler (1) in the reverse order of removal.

   1. Orient the opening on clamps (4) and (2) 90 degrees from the slots in muffler (1).

   2. Apply Tooling (A) the bolts on clamps (4) and (2).

   3. Tighten clamp (4) to a torque of 20 ± 2 N·m (177 ± 18 lb in).

   4. Tighten two clamps (3) to a torque of 9 ± 1 N·m (80 ± 9 lb in).

   5. Tighten clamp (2) to a torque of 20 ± 2 N·m (177 ± 18 lb in).
