Hydraulic Fan and Steering Tank Oil Level - Check
Note: The steering system and the hydraulic fan drive motor for the engine share common hydraulic oil.
a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".
- Ensure that the engine is not running.
- Open the access panel for the upper oil level sight gauge of the fan and steering tank.

- Check the oil level in the upper sight gauge.
- If the oil level is in the upper red range of the gauge, drain oil from the tank to lower the oil level to the green range.
- If the oil level is in the lower red range of the gauge, add oil to the tank to raise the oil level to the green range.

Do not fill the steering hydraulic tank when the engine is running. Discharge from the secondary steering accumulators could overfill the tank when the engine is stopped. |
- Start the engine.
- Open the access panel for the lower oil level sight gauge.

- Check the oil level in the lower sight gauge.
- If the oil level is in the upper red range of the gauge, drain oil from the tank to lower the oil level to the green range.
- If the oil level is in the green range of the gauge, stop the engine.
- If the oil level is in the red range of the gauge, check the secondary steering system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Secondary Steering - Check" for additional information.
