A New Oil Filter Base Stud Is Now Used on Certain 3500 Engines {1306, 1308}

Usage:

3516C MLF
Engine
3516C (S/N: MLF1-UP)

Description Of Change: The new stud has been designed to bottom out in the female port of the filter base, and is installed at a higher torque. The new stud also provides a piloting feature to aid in filter installation.

Also, an improved thread locking sealant which is optimized for plated fasteners is used. This design has improved reliability when filters are over-torqued.

Adaptable To: The new 485-2866 Hollow Stud replaces the former 2P-4304 Hollow Stud in the 151-9270 Oil Filter Base As and the 8N-2001 Oil Filter Base As.

Note: The 2P-4304 Hollow Stud is not canceled.

The new stud is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.

Use the 523-3834 Tool As (Stud Driver) to install the 485-2866 Hollow Stud. This stud driver allows tension to be released to prevent loss of torque on the stud when the tool is removed.

This change is effective for serial numbers S/N:MLF00310-UP.
