Winch Oil Level - Check

Usage:

PL72 P72

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Boom Winch

The boom winch has a separate oil supply that requires the oil level to be checked periodically. However, the hook winch is pressure lubricated with hydraulic oil and does not require the oil level to be checked by the operator.

  1. Park the machine on level ground. Turn OFF the engine.

  2. Remove oil filler plug (2) in order to check the oil level. The oil level should be maintained to the bottom of the oil filler plug hole.

  3. Add oil, if necessary.

Note: Oil breather plug (1) is a vent plug. Do not alter or remove the vent. Do not grease the vent plug. Do not install a solid plug at the breather port.

  4. Install oil filler plug (2).

Check for oil leaks around the covers and around the hoses. Repair any oil leaks.

Note: Turn off the engine if you repair any leaking hoses.

Reference: See “Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities” in this manual for the proper oil type.
