Torque transmitted from the engine is sent to the input shaft (1) of the transmission. The input shaft then splits the torque from the engine and sends the torque to the variator (3) and to input gear (25). The torque from the input gear is then sent to the idler gear (21), planetary input gear M4 (26), planetary train 1 (23), and planetary train 2 (24).

The output of the variator is sent to the ring gear of the secondary planetary set (20). The Power Train ECM controls the output of the variator to reduce, eliminate, or add to the input speed of the first planetary set. From the secondary planetary set, the torque is sent through the low range output gear (19) to gear (18) of the LOW FORWARD/HIGH REVERSE shaft. Gear (18) is also meshed to gear (17) of the LOW REVERSE/HIGH FORWARD shaft.

The Power Train ECM will then use the transmission control solenoids to move the LOW FORWARD/HIGH REVERSE synchronizer (8), LOW REVERSE/HIGH FORWARD synchronizer (12), or AUXILIARY synchronizer (6) based on the operators command and the current machine state. From the synchronizers, power flows to either clutch A (11) or clutch B (15) before the power is sent to the output shaft (16) of the transmission.
