Electronic Control Module (Engine) - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Isolate the electric power generation set. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Generator Isolating for Maintenance" for the correct procedure.

    Note: If the electronic control module (ECM) is being replaced, download the personality module before you remove the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM".

  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal at the battery.

  3. Remove covers (1).

  4. Loosen allen head screws (2) and (3) and disconnect the harness assemblies.

  5. Remove bolts (4). Remove electronic control module (5).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install electronic control module (5) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten allen head screw (2) to a torque of 6 ± 1 N·m (53 ± 9 lb in).

    2. Tighten allen head screw (3) to a torque of 7 ± 0.5 N·m (62 ± 4 lb in).
