Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install

Usage:

XQC1200 N1G

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Isolate the electric power generation set. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Generator Isolating for Maintenance" for the correct procedure.

    Note: Before disconnecting the harness assemblies, mark the items for the proper connections in order to ensure correct assembly.

  2. Disconnect the harness assemblies from solenoid (1) and electric starting motor (2).

    If the engine has two electric starting motors, disconnect the harness assemblies between the solenoids and electric starting motors.

  3. Using two people to support the electric starting motor, remove bolts (3) and remove electric starting motor (2). The weight of electric starting motor (2) is approximately 26 kg (58 lb). Remove the gasket from the joint between electric starting motor (2) and the flywheel housing.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the gasket for the joint between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing. Obtain a new gasket, if necessary.

  2. Place the gasket in the cover for electric starting motor (2). Using two people, lift electric starting motor (2) into the mounting position. The weight of electric starting motor (2) is approximately 26 kg (58 lb). Install bolts (3).

  3. Connect the harness assemblies to solenoid (1) and electric starting motor (2).

    If the engine has two electric starting motors, connect the harness assemblies between the solenoids and electric starting motors.

End By:

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
